Centrica

Centrica, founded in 1999, offers products and services in digital imaging, from image capture, to organisation, distribution, copyright enforcement, commercialisation; the company also provides complementary services in multimedia and web development. Centrica counts among its clients a number of major cultural heritage institutions and public sector entities, as well as private image libraries and archives. Centrica has participated in many European Projects (TRADEX, ARTISTE, SCULPTEUR, CUSPIS, TWIST), in 2003 won a prestigious Premio Impresa e Cultura award from Italy’s financial broadsheet, Il Sole 24 Ore, and was a nominee for the European Commissions IST Prize 2004 for XLimage, Centrica proprietary image server. In 2005 Centrica has released a web based DAM/DRM solution named XLphoto and is IST Prize Winner 2006 with this platform. Centrica is a SME focused in imaging and multimedia/web imaging active in Italian market and with good visibility also in the European arena, especially in the Cultural Heritage sector.

Key roles in Tripod
CEN will contribute its XLimage system to the spatial search services (WP4) and its experience in exploitation. Centrica will also co-ordinate technical development and design.
