Since its foundation in 1985 Geodan has grown into an independent group of companies, giving form and contents to all the aspects of the Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Currently Geodan employs approx. 90 highly educated and motivated Geo-ICT specialists. Geodan has been successful for 20 years following a vision on the development of geo-ICT, and know-how in the use of geo-information technology. The company develops applications using standard GIS, but also utilizes software products developed at Geodan for meta-data, land registry data, internet services and Location Based Services. Geodan offers internet services varying from simple locater maps to multidiscipline geoinformation services for inter-governmental applications or telecom operators. As broker in geodata, the company supplies global data products through a worldwide network of local specialist suppliers. The majority of Geodan’s activities are project-based. Geodan draws extensively on close cooperation with an international network of scientists and specialist providers. Geodan applies and integrates its own tools and those of major international providers, such as Andes, Autodesk, Claritas/VNU, ESRI, HP, IONIC, MapInfo, Oracle, SPSS, Tele Atlas en Wegener Direct Marketing.

Key roles in Tripod
Geodan will contribute spatial data and 3D models of buildings in Europe to contribute to advanced caption creation. It will also use its strong connections with the GIS sector to help with exploitation. Furthermore their extensive experience in Web Services oriented architecture will provide a good base in the development of the service.
